Second visit to Dr Dorothy Ong

The thing that I feared most happened...
Cayden-boy's was like a running tap.
Nasal fluid ran down onto his lips and he would conveniently rub it on my shirt as I carry him...

Mama would stare at me (probably cursing and swearing inside) and quickly took out a piece of tissue attempting to clean it away. Cayden-boy knowing that mama is approaching, turns his head in the opposite direction, playing hide and seek with mama.

I enjoyed these moments and feel proud especially when Cayden-boy outwits mama by burying his face into my chest (although I knew mama is probably boiling with frustration.... )
Cayden-boy will then counter Mama's 'never give up'and '霸道' nature by simply scream ing and cries.

Seasoned mummies and daddys in my office advised me not to be over anxious about bringing Cayden-boy to seeing a pediatrician. The guide line given to me was "fever", "rejecting food" and "vomiting". However, mama feels otherwise and prefers to seek professional advise. As a result, we made an appointment with Dr Dorothy Ong on the 29th April 10.

Mama fires dozens of questions at Dr Dorothy, trying to learn about Cayden-boy's illness, while I continued to play with Cayden-boy in the doctor's room... "Cayden-boy jump jump ar~~~"

Cayden-boy's first medicine

After the consultation, we went to the food center opposite for our dinner. Mama craves for BBQ stingray, fried oyster omelette, Hokkien prawn noodles and sugarcane juice!

Bedframe abandoned!

Cayden-boy patted my cheek at 7 plus in the morning, prompting me to get ready for work.
I was reluctant and wanted another 5 minutes of sleep...

Patted Cayden-boy on the head, give him a hug and continued my greed for sleep.

My crave for another 5 minutes turned into utter remorse when Cayden-boy gave a loud cry. Cayden-boy's cries sent shivers down my spine. Jumped up the bed, turned around and discovered that Cayden-boy was missing!

Cayden-boy had fallen off the bed!

Quickly carry him up, hug him tightly, not able to forgive myself, my thoughts were in complete disarray.
Mama dashed into the room asking what had happened, wanting to give Cayden-boy a hug too.

The next thing was to physically check on Cayden-boy.
I remembered scrutinizing every cm, for any hint of bruise and buns..
The pain in my heart was beyond words - It made me realize why parents are willing to sacrifice everything for their children.

The pain in me gradually turned into anger.

I had long wanted to remove the bedframe after hearing stories from people around me. Why was I not able to learn from people's mistake and not able to make up my mind?! Sometimes it pays to be stubborn.

Decided to take half day's leave - to accompany Cayden-boy and remove the Serta bedframe.

Couldn't concentrate in my work at all. Attended 2 meetings without much participation, sending sms to mama to find out more about Cayden-boy's progress.
Mama's reply that Cayden-boy was playing and had finished his food put my heart at ease.

12.30pm. Rushed to pick up mama and fetch Cayden-boy.
Its priceless to see Cayden-boy moving both his hands and legs excitedly upon seeing mama.

I knew our decision to take half day's leave was correct.

To put everyone's heart at ease, we decided to seek professional advise. Mama's intelligence network brought us to Dr Dorothy Ong at Bukit Timah Plaza. Please bring your kid to her (if necessary) for a pleasant surprise. Haha.

Mama begins to smile after learning that Cayden-boy was all right.
Doctor told us to continue observing Cayden-boy for another 72 hrs, looking out for signs of nauseous and vomiting.

Mama's crave for window shopping returned. As a result, we ended up in Jurong Point.

Cayden-boy trying out "芝麻糊" for the first time!

As you can see... Cayden-boy's left eye is a bit swollen with a slight bruise.

Cayden-boy seems to have goldfish memory... starts leopard crawling the very night...

Abandoned bed frame

Now, the whole family sleeps happily on the floor!

Swimming session at Home Team NS!

Since we are already SAFRA members, we decided to begin our SAFRA tours and at the same time, have our breakfast.. Mama suggested Yishun branch as we are thinking of the Bottle tree park as our next destination.

We are surprised with the swimming facilities in SAFRA Yishun. Mama's gotten really excited and even started talking about bringing Cayden-boy here again this evening for a swim!
As usual, I broke mama's excitement and start looking for food..

Nothing suits our appetite, and proceeded to North-point for our brunch instead. Mama hints for a meal at the japanese street.
The next stop that catches our attention is the roof garden.

 Cayden-boy is 神雕大侠!

Cayden-boy loves to "steer" the wheels

Cayden-boy's signature right eyebrow lift! He must be very contented.

Cayden-boy catches a ladybird..

We headed right back to get some rest and dropped destination Bottle tree park.

After some rest, mama decided to bring Cayden-boy for a swim again.. Cayden-boy's aqua training for 6 packs begins at 7+ months old!  Hoho~ Entries to swimming pools are free anyway! Just walk 10 minutes and we're there!

Due to the excellent location of our flat, we are proud to call our HDB a "semi-condo". Haha
Within 10 minutes, we have squash court, swimming pool, archery/air gun  range, gym, golf training course, bowling alley, etc... Definitely better than what a standard condo can offer! (whats more, no maintenance fees are required!)

Okay, enough of advertisements.. we reached the swimming pool in 10 minutes, ready to put on Cayden-boy's swimming trunks...

Er.... mama had brought everything except Cayden-boy's swimming trunks...
Did I mention ONLY 10 minutes walk.... ?

No choice, we returned to get Cayden-boy's swimming trunk..
In the end.. it took us 10+10+10 mins to get into the swimming pool..  Lol!

Cayden-boy poses before getting into the water.

Cayden-boy wearing the arm float. Think he prefers this to the neck float..

Wrapping Cayden-boy up in the towel suit after the swim

We had to rush home and prepare to go to grandparent's place for dinner!

Joined Safra for Cayden-boy

Never thought of joining SAFRA since my national service days..
The thought of clubs being maintained by the SAF must be inferior and customized for army guys.
From my visits to SAFRA during my army days, I can only recall cheap beer, karaoke and bowling to SAFRA clubhouse..

Well, things are a little different now...
After mama showed me the kind of family activities available, I am proud (because I am a family man) to say that both mama and I are now members of SAFRA!

The goody bags for signing up as a SAFRA member:

Two complimentary tickets to Iron man 2.

To be honest, the last time I went to cinema with mama is during our courtship... as mama finds that movie tickets are way to expensive. This time, mama and I should have 3 hours to ourselves for the show!

 Receiver for family outing!

I said that SAFRA had families activities in mind, didn't I ?

A free 3 course meal at Billy Bombers!

Folks who see this and aren't a SAFRA member yet, what are YOU waiting for ?!
Be a member NOW and  enjoy cheap beer! Haha.

The first things that we did after joining  SAFRA is to bring Cayden-boy for a dip. This time, mama joined in the swimming session as well.
Cayden-boy definitely enjoys the session more with mama's presence. No photos this time round as obviously, all photographers are in the water!  Haha..

First swim

Couple of tasks to on a lazy Sunday morning..

We head off to collect mama's online purchase and as we passes by Bishan, we decided to drop off at Bishan park to have our breakfast and morning walk.

Not forgetting the Maclaren xlr, we quickly took it out for Cayden-boy to ride.

Cayden-boy's grumpy expression when put on the stroller.

Mama trying in vain making Cayden-boy smile...

Mama still trying to persuade Cayden-boy to smile...

It makes me wonder if we had spoil Cayden-boy's Sunday morning by placing him on the stroller...

Cayden-boy is trying to bring across his message - "In stroller no smile, hug hug got smile!"
Hm.. who will win ?
The "霸道" mama or the "小霸王" Cayden-boy ?Time will tell.. haha!

Mama's definitely the happy one!

Map of Bishan park looks huge and interesting, but majority of it is under upgrading..
I think we will not be visiting Bishan park in the near future... (upgrading is expected to complete only in 2011)

We decided return home, get some rest before bringing Cayden-boy to the activity of the day - Swimming!

Putting on the neck float for Cayden-boy

Cayden-boy "freezes" as he is unfamiliar with the public pool.
I tried encouraging Cayden-boy to kick his feet and drag him around the swimming pool.

Before long, Cayden-boy starts kicking violently in the water as if he is in his walker...

Look at the water ripples that Cayden-boy is making..
(The proud daddy is laughing proudly in the water)

After Cayden-boy's tough maneuver,
I have to empty the trapped water in the neck float...

Drying Cayden-boy up after the swim

Cayden-boy smiles when we asked him if he wanted to go swimming again..
If time permits, I don't mind bringing Cayden-boy for more swimming sessions!

Go Go Bambini

10th April is a very very very tiring Saturday for me..

As a member of the guard's unit, holding an appointment that nobody likes, people calling you commanders, and giving you lots of sh**y jobs to do..
Well, my unit "forces" me to go for a "family cohesion activity - Commander's IPPT challenge", reporting at 7am at Bedok camp.. (where the hell is THAT place?!)

Souvenir that the unit gives after the In-pro session..

As for the IPPT result, its top secret... Definitely wont be posted here.  Hahahaha.

To be honest, my whole body is aching and mentally tired after the IPPT.
After the IPPT, I rushed home, to buy breakfast with mama and Cayden-boy. Our secondary objective is to tire Cayden-boy out so that he will catch some sleep before his class at Baby Jumper Gym.

That was a mistake! Cayden-boy is so well trained (by his grandfather) nowadays that such short trip wont wear him out..
Instead of Cayden-boy sleeping, my arms were the ones giving away... (hated that pull-up station in the morning..)

I had to ask mama to take care of Cayden-boy during the lesson. I am really tired.

 Cayden-boy's first uniform from BJG!

When we reach home, I dozed off after my bathe....
When I woke up, I saw mama sleeping on the play mat while Cayden-boy is playing with his toys..
Isn't it evident that mama  has a hard time coping with Cayden-boy? Hahaha.

Woke mama up and prepared for the excitement of the day at Go go Bambini!

Ben & Jerry's cow is definitely more appealing than the small Go Go Bambini signboard... Don't u agree?

Cayden-boy and Clarice playing balls in Bambini

 Cayden-boy focusing on the controller.
Looks professional, isnt he?!  (smiling proudly as I am typing.. haha)

Mama bringing Cayden-boy up for a photo shot.

Cayden-boy moving through the obstacles..

Cayden-boy and mama inside the time-traveling tunnel!

Cayden-boy and me beside a train!

Go Go Bambini is a haven for children.  However, Cayden-boy is presently (7 months old) way to young to join in the activities that they are offering. Perhaps that's the reason why baby below 1 yr old is free admission!

One thing that I would like to complain is the poor lighting conditions that make photo taking extremely challenging tasks...

Botanic garden, Vivo city and Marina at keppel bay!

Mama's preparation for an outing ended only at 1 am... What kind of preparation is so tedious that requires so much time and effort ? Well, read on to find out... =P

Cayden-boy waiting for the journey to begin..

Guess what's Cayden-boy looking at,..

Yes, its the swan! We are at Botanic Garden- Swan Lake Gazebo!

Mama's teaching Cayden-boy to "love the fishes"..

The yellow catapillar caught mama and Cayden-boy's attention.

Getting a rest at the shelter..

Mama flashes her "preparations" with a grin on her face - "爱心早点!"
To elaborate further, these doraemon bread comes in egg mayo and crab-stick fillings.
I can guarantee that such breakfast cannot be found in Singapore confectionary!

Mama's satisfied looks..

Can you see mama smiling away?

At the cross-road with Cayden-boy

Cayden-boy admiring the kois in the pond

We decided to call it a day at Botanic garden, Tanglin core.

It is such a hot day that Cayden-boy also wants a slip of ice-cold Pocari Sweat!

Cayden-boy posing at the stone sculpture

It is around 12 pm.. Where should we go next?!
In the end, we decided to go to Habourfront and pay a visit to Mothercare. we wanted to do a survey for baby strollers. The present stroller was fine except that it occupied my whole boot space and the front wheels always tend to lock itself, hindering movements..

Cayden-boy trying out sunglasses at Mothercare, Habourfront. Rock-and-roll baby!

Cayden-boy driving the Batmobile.
His hands turning the steering wheels in a surprisingly, professional manner.

Cayden-boy taking a ride at the carousel

Cayden-boy's attention focusing at the open-air playground in vivo city. A pity that it was drizzling... we promised that we will visit agian in the near future!

After much considerations, I decided to get a Maclaren stroller for Cayden-boy.
Maclaren's "umberella fold" and light weight features caught my attention.

Cayden-boy is very very helpful in helping choosing the stroller...  He tells his preferences with visual expressions one will never miss out - ar..ar...arhhhhh.......

The winning stroller after testing all the Maclaren series..

The winner is the Maclaren techno xlr!
As u can see, mama likes it too, she begins testing how much weight the handle can withstand and finding a good spot to hang her bags and such...

Shopping ended at 5.30pm. We did not want to go home.. yet.
Mama suggested Marina at keppel bay - a destination which we had failed to reach twice... (one word hard to explain...)

And so, off we go!

Finally... Marina at keppel bay!

Cayden-boy loves the bubbles..

That golf buggy's nothing compared to the complexity of the Batmobile in the afternoon!

The AIDA cara moving pass us.

Final pose before going for dinner!
